Throughout the years, the Ed Fund has taken on many roles in the service of the students and educators of West Contra Costa. Often overlooked in the areas of philanthropy, we are intent on bringing into focus the great work happening in WCCUSD and the community at large to disrupt the cycles of inequality and poverty.

We are guided by our values and commitment to promoting racial equity for all our students.

The values that guide our work:

  • Love – We see the brilliance and potential of all WCCUSD students;
  • Public Education – We believe that quality, equitable public education is a human right;
  • Justice – We work to correct the historic and ongoing divestment in Black students;
  • Partnership – It takes strong and deep collaboration across the region to make sure all students have what they need to thrive;
  • Community – Everything we do is in service to this place we call home!

Fund Development

We approach fund development from two aspects, both with the intention of working for the community. Learn more about our WCCUSD Initiatives and City Partnerships.

Fiscal Sponsorship

We are proud to sponsor over 25 projects that provide programming that enhances student learning throughout West Contra Costa.

Classroom Grants

Since 1983, The Ed Fund has awarded grants to fund classroom and school projects in West Contra Costa. Teachers throughout the district apply in August every year for grants ranging from $500-$1000.

Scholarships

From our earliest beginnings, the Ed Fund has managed a college scholarship program benefiting low-income graduating seniors of the West Contra Costa Unified School District.

Teaching Excellence

For more than 30 years, Ed Fund West has recognized the county’s best teachers through the Teaching Excellence Awards. These educators exemplify putting students at the center of the educational experience.
